Theodore H. Earle
Theodore Henry Earle was born Apr. 18th, 1836. He died at his home, surrounded by his wife and his surviving children, in the evening of Jan. 2nd, 1910, aged seventy three years, eight months and fifteen days. Mr. Earle was born in Warren County, Ohio, upon the Western Reserve, which has given this nation a multitude of stalwart men and noble women. The family is English. Mr. Earle's ancestors emigrated from that country to America in the early part of the 17th century, and made a new home in the state of Connecticut. Early in the 19th century his father, William Earle, emigrated to Ohio. Theodore spent his early life in that state, receiving his education in part, at Oberlin college. Thence he came to Wisconsin, where, in 1861, he completed his college course and graduated from Lawrence University, one of Wisconsin's oldest colleges.
On Jan. 24th, 1863, Mr. Earle was married to Miranda Lucinda Ketchum, who survives him. He was engaged principally in teaching until 1874, when he removed to Whitehall in Trempealeau County, Wisconsin and became a lumber dealer, in which business he was actively engaged until his death. In 1885 he removed to Darlington where he has since lived.
Mr. Earle had five children. Roy Raymond, the youngest, a graduate of our State University, and with a brilliant future ahead of him, died at the age of twenty five years. He is buried in Union Grove Cemetery. The remains of his father were laid beside him.
Leafy L. Bingham, Tonawanda, New York, Zuba Z. James , Darlington and Hugh Henry, Portland, Oregon, his surviving children, were present and administered in the comfort of their father during the last illness.
