Whitehall, Wis. — Christian Gilbertson, 89, of the Pigeon Falls Nursing Home, formerly of the Whitehall area and La Crosse, died Sunday, May 18, in the Tri-County Memorial Hospital, Whitehall.
He was born Jan. 5, 1891, to Martin and Dorothea (Lunde) Gilbertson in the town of Pigeon, and married Myrtle Aleckson on June 27, 1919.
From 1916 until 1941, he and his brother owned and operated the Gilbertson Brothers' Garage in Whitehall. In 1944, he moved to La Crosse and was an insurance agent for Lutheran Brotherhood Insurance until he retired in 1956.Gilbertson moved into the Pigeon Falls Nursing Home in October of 1979.
Survivors are one son, Herbert of Roseville, Calif., and one sister, Mrs. Hulda Eid of Madison. His wife preceded him in death on Feb. 25, 1976.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a m. in the Jack Funeral Home, Whitehall, with the Rev. Richard Kelling officiating. Burial will be in the Lincoln Cemetery, Whitehall.
Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday after 4 p.m. and Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the services.
