Man, Early Settler,
Dies in Florida
Whitehall, Wis. —(Special)— Edward Southworth, 89, a pioneer settler at Whitehall, who lived here until 15 years ago, died Friday at Clermont, Fla., it was learned this morning.
Funeral services will be held here Tuesday afternoon at the Rhode funeral home. A Masonic funeral will be conducted. Burial will be in the Lincoln cemetery. Time of the services has not yet been set.
Mr. Southworth, a buyer for the Cargill Grain Company, Inc., left Whitehall for La Crosse 15 years ago, and later he and his wife moved to Florida. He was well known throughout this area.
Survivors are his widow, in Florida, and a daughter, Mrs. Earl (Marian) Brandenburg, of New York city.

Masonic funeral rites, in charge of W.E. Bishop of Arcadia, were held here Tuesday for Edward Southworth, of Claremont, Fla., 88, former Whitehall resident. Pallbearers were Ludwig Solsrud, E.A. Sorensin, John A. Jacobsen, J.F. Hager, O.C. Torson, and Phil Lambert. Those who came here for the funeral srvices were his son-in-law, Earl W. Brandenburg of New York, N.Y., Mr. Southworth’s sister, Mrs. P.A. Williams of Marshfield, 90, and Mrs. Eugene Deckert and Mrs. Sidney Sommers, of Marshfield, and Mrs. Thiel of La Crosse.
