Dr. Robert L. MacCornack Sr.
78-Year-Old Doctor Dies in Whitehall
WHITEHALL, Wis. — Dr. R. L. MacCornack Sr., 78, died Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 3, at his home in Whitehall.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church. Rev. O. G. Birkeland and Rev. Clifford Rittland will officiate.
Friends may call after 2 p.m. Saturday at Johnson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery.
He was born to Mr. and Mrs. Robert MacCornack Jan. 8, 1888, in Elgin, Ill. He graduated from the University of Illinois School of Medicine in 1915 and first practiced in Alma Center. He was a medical officer in the Army in World War I, then practiced in Janesville and Blair before coming to Whitehall in 1920. He was associated with his brother, Dr. E. A. MacCornack, until he retired in 1956.
Dr. MacCornack married Gladys Fry May 4, 1918.
He was city health officer from 1923 to 1963, served on the State Board of Health from 1937 to 1942, was president of the local hospital board 33 years, active in medical associations and the Boy Scouts, a 32nd degree Mason, member of the Chamber of Commerce and American Legion.
Surviving are his widow; one son, Dr. R. L. MacCornack Jr., of St. Paul; two daughters, Mrs. Robert Forsythe of Edina, Minn., and Mrs. Alphonz Lamprecht of Long Island, N.Y.; 11 grandchildren and one brother, Dr. Donald of Boulder City, Nev.
