official Brennom dies at 84
WHITEHALL. Wis. — Services for Lester O. Brennom, 84, a former Whitehall mayor and Trempealeau County official, will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, Whitehall. The Revs. Richard Kelling and LaMoine Jacobs will officiate. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery, Whitehall.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 9 to 11 a m. Wednesday at the Jack Funeral Home, Whitehall. They may also call at the church from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Brennom died Sunday, Aug. 24, 1986, in the Hennepin County Medical Center. Minneapolis.
He was born July 28, 1902, in the town of Arcadia, Trempealeau County, to Lewis C. and Olive (Amundson) Brennom.
He married Edith Slack Oct. 9, 1937, in Nashua, Iowa.
He was the first elected constable of Whitehall and a village trustee. He was elected alderman when the village organized as a city in 1941 and served until 1959, when he became mayor. He served as mayor until 1974.
He was a member of the city’s Electric Commission from 1940 to 1974.
He was the Trempealeau County Registrar of Deeds from 1936 to 1962 and county tax lister from 1966 until his retirement in 1982.
He was also a founding member and first secretary of the Whitehall Ski Club and a longtime member of the Masons.
He was employed by Mathy Construction Co., La Crosse, from 1963 to 1965.
Survivors are his wife; two sons, William of St. Paul and Thomas of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; seven grandchildren; a brother, Seymour of St. Paul; and three sisters, Pearl Brennom and Gladys Rasmussen, both of Whitehall, and Norma Lokken of La Crosse.
He was preceded in death by a son and a brother.
