Sigvald Hegge, Whitehall, Dies
Whitehall, Wis.—(Special)— Sigvald N. Hegge, for many years one of this area’s most prominent businessman, died at the Community hospital here Wednesday afternoon at the age of 63.
Death was caused by a heart ailment; Mr. Hegge had been ill for the past ten days.
The president of the Whitehall Mill & Power Company, Mr. Hegge at the time of his death was a member of the Trempealeau county board of supervisors and was a member of that group's county property committee.
On Supervisors Board
He had served on the board of supervisors continuously for the past ten years and previously had been a member at various times.
He also was a former member of the Whitehall city council and the school board.
Mr. Hegge once served as, cashier of the dissolved People's State Bank of Whitehall.
A member of the Masonic bodies, he was also active in church and other community affairs.
Mr. Hegge was born in the town of Pigeon May 18, 1887, the son of Nels and Lina Nelson Hegge.
In 1900 the family moved to Whitehall and in 1915 he married the former Emelia Bensend.
Survivors Listed
In addition to his wife he is survived by six children, Mrs. E. J. Coliiton, Whitehall; Hiram and George, who were associated with him in the operation of the mill; Floren and Thomas, students at the University of Wisconsin at Madison; John, stationed with the armed forces at Camp Hood, Texas; and Patricia, a student at the Whitehall High school.
Also surviving are six brothers, George, Portland, Ore.; Even, Hixton, Wis.; Edward and Oluf, Hatton, N. D; Isaac, Mayville, N. D.; and Oscar, Frankfurt, Ky., and ten grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. Sunday at the Our Saviour’s Lutheran church, the Rev. 0. G. Birkeland officiating and burial will be in the Lincoln cemetery.
